Angus Taylor, the acclaimed South African artist believes “Holderstebolder” to be an artwork devoid of any agenda or dogma. “If I were to translate ‘Holderstebolder’ (Afrikaans) into a local language, I would use Putha’ (Punjabi for upside-down). It is to invert, turn something on its head, and in this case, “the monument,” says Angus Taylor.
